Baroda 1 Rupee, Anand Rao Gaekwad (Baroda), 1806-1820
Silver rupee coin minted by the Princely State of Baroda, in the name of Anand Rao Gaekwad, who reigned from 1806-1820. The obverse of the coin has the hindi alphabet 'Aa' - the first letter of Anand Rao's name, while the reverse carries the year according to the Islamic calendar (1221-1235 AH, see picture 5). Just below the initials is the reginal year (year of Anand Rao's reign - see picture 4)
