1 Pice, Lahore Mint, 1944-45
1 Pice or 1 paisa (1/64 rupee) coins of British India, minted in 1944-45 at Lahore Mint. Note the 'L' under the date. The so-called 'hole coins' were minted from 1943 onward instead of the earlier, larger 1/4 anna coins to save metal. Apart from their smaller size, the hole in these coins also reduced the need for metal. Coins minted in Lahore are scarce compared to coins from other mints.
