1 Rupee coin issued on Jawaharlal Nehru's centenary year (1989). The reverse of the coin has a capped bust of Nehru, facing right. The obverse has the Ashok Stambh (pillar) and the denomination. This was the second time Nehru featured on a 1 rupee coin (after the 1964 issue).
