1 Dollar, Rhodesia, 1978

1 Dollar Banknote of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) - a land-locked country in Southern Africa that existed from 1965-79. Rhodesia was a successor state to the British colony of Southern Rhodesia and became known as Zimbabwe from 1980 onward. Rhodesia was one of the two countries in Southern Africa to be governed by a white minority - and was therefore not recognized by the United Nations. The Rhodesian Dollar (1970-80) replaced the Rhodesian Pound (1964-70). 

The obverse of the note carries the Rhodesian coat of arms on the right, and has a watermark of Cecil Rhode's face to the left. The reverse features a tobacco field.
