1 Kori, Kutch, Brilliant Uncirculated - Khengarji & Vijayrajji

1 Kori silver coins of Kutch Princely State, minted during the reigns of Khengarji and Vijayrajji, issued jointly in the name of George VI - dating from 1940 onwards. 

These coins are in a brilliant un-circulated condition - with their original mint luster still preserved. This is because in 1939, the British India government cut the silver content of its coins from 0.917 (91.7%) to 50% - while Kutch kept their value unchanged. As a result, people kept these coins instead of using them - and they have been preserved in this wonderful condition.
