Silver Rupee, Jodhpur, 1935 VS/1878 AD
Silver 1 rupee coin of the Indian Princely State of Jodhpur. Jodhpur was a kingdom inthe Marwar region from 1226-1818 AD, and from 1818 AD onwards, became a British protectorate. It was the largest state in the Rajputana agency and the third largest state in British India.
The obverse carries the words 'Shree Matajee' in devnagari script, with the date 1935 in Vikram Samvat (corresponding to 1878 AD). A leaf and a sword can be seen underneath the legend. These coins were minted during the reign of Sardar Singh and Empress Victoria.
