50 Rupia, Goa (Indo-Portuguese), Cancelled Banknote, Graded VF 20
Graded 50 Rupia Indo-Portuguese (Goa) banknote, issued by Banco Nacional Ultramarino in 1945. The obverse bears the seal of the bank on the left (a steamship) and the portrait of Alfonso de Albuquerque - a Portuguese military commander and the Viceroy of Portuguese India from 1509-1515. The reverse features a woman watching sailing ships and a steamer. These features are common across all denominations of this series.
This note carries two cancellation holes. In 1959, the Rupia was replaced by the Escudo in Goa, and the old banknotes were withdrawn and cancelled.
